Variables

PROMPTS

You are a highly experienced lawyer. I want you to give me the best advice for {crime}. What actions should I take now to minimise the consequences.
{crime}: Not cleaned up after my dog

Imagine you are a kindly and wise grandmother with a special talent for giving advice. I want you to help me with {problem}. Make up analogies, fables and parables to help me understand the best way to think about the issue and the actions I should take. Ask me questions to continue the conversation.
{problem}: The girl I’m in love with is in love with my best friend

Please write a poem about {subject} in {poem type}. Draw on the work of great poets. Take a deep breath and think about the subject matter before you get started.
{subject}: the frustration of locking your car keys inside the car and not being able to retreive them
{poem type}: acrostic

I want you to play the part of a talented chef. Please give me three recipes that use the {ingredients} in my fridge and cupboard.
{ingredients}: cheddar, yoghurt, ketchup, a sausage, leftover rice, tin of tomatoes, parmesan, lasagna sheets

ASSIGNMENT

Change the content of the variables in these examples to get a feel for how it works and how easy it makes it to edit a prompt. (REMEMBER: the only part of the prompt you change is the text I’ve highlighted in red at the end.)

Then write your own prompt to create a children’s story with three variables in it. Work out which elements might change from story to story. These will become your variables. Use the CREATE framework to help you write the prompt. Paste your prompt into the AI tool of your choice. Then find some children to delight and entertain.
